Jackmaster dies aged 38
Jack Revill, better known as Jackmaster, has passed away at the age of 38.
His family shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram today, October 12th. “It’s with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster,” they wrote. “Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of 12th October, following complications arising from an accidental head injury.”
The message continued, “His family—Kate, Sean, and Johnny—are utterly heartbroken. While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss.”
As a cofounder of the Numbers label and a key figure on the global DJ circuit, Revill was regarded as one of the leading DJs of his generation.
Born in Glasgow in 1986, Revill started his music journey early, landing a job at the iconic record store Rubadub when he was just 14. By 17, he had become a regular at the well-known Monox techno party.
His career rapidly took off, gaining recognition not only for his DJ sets but also as a radio host, label owner, and frequent collaborator with other DJs in back-to-back performances. From local Glasgow events like Dress 2 Sweat—later known as Numbers—he rose to prominence on the international stage, becoming one of the most in-demand DJs by the mid-2010s.
In 2018, Revill faced public criticism after admitting to “abusive” and “inappropriate” behaviour, including “attempting to kiss and grab people against their will” at Bristol’s Love Saves The Day festival.
Despite this, he continued to perform and release music throughout the 2020s, with his final performance taking place just last month at Hï Ibiza.
